We’re celebrating at The Oaks Crematorium

The Oaks Havant Crematorium celebrates its first Green Flag Award

The Oaks Havant Crematorium is celebrating after receiving its first-ever Green Flag Award, recognising the quality and management of its 14 acres of grounds.

The internationally recognised award celebrates well-managed parks and green spaces, and recognised the care taken at The Oaks to create peaceful and welcoming surroundings for families while protecting and enhancing the site’s natural habitats.

Set within 14 acres of beautiful grounds, The Oaks is home to wildflower meadows, ancient semi-natural woodland and carefully landscaped areas. Together, these spaces provide a tranquil environment for families visiting their loved ones, while also supporting local wildlife.

The grounds are cared for throughout the year by the team at The Oaks, working alongside Countrywide Grounds Maintenance, a dedicated woodland volunteer and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. Their work helps to maintain the grounds and protect and enhance biodiversity across the site.

The Oaks joins a record-breaking 2,391 sites across the UK to receive a Green Flag Award in 2026, as the scheme celebrates its 30th year.

Will Salvetti, Land Manager at Southern Co-op, said:

“Receiving our first Green Flag Award is a fantastic achievement and something everyone involved with The Oaks can be really proud of.

“A huge amount of care goes into the grounds throughout the year, both to create a peaceful and welcoming environment for families and to protect the wildlife and natural spaces that make The Oaks so special. It’s brilliant to see that collective effort recognised.”

Emma Connors, Head of End of Life Services at Southern Co-op, added:

“We want every family we support to experience the same high standard of care, and that includes the environment we create for them. Achieving a Green Flag Award at The Oaks reflects the commitment our teams show across all of our end of life services, and I’m very proud of everyone who has contributed to it.”

The Green Flag Award is managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy and recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting a benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the UK and around the world.

We’re incredibly proud to see the care and dedication that goes into The Oaks’ grounds recognised with this award.

What our clients say...

  • Truly beautiful and peaceful. Wish I lived closer as I would choose this location for my own cremation, the focus on environment and wildlife is wonderful. During our service the peacock was walking in the garden, and then joined by a pheasant and magpie, a welcome and unexpected distraction and a reminder to that nature carries on regardless. Thank you…
